The soldiers continued asking questions and shouting at the two men.

“FE-raoo aenah ohooee?”

“So what are we gonna do?”

“You mean besides probably die and then have our heads cut off and stuck on two spikes on top of a wall somewhere? I don’t know. Try to escape?”

“Escape to where though? And besides, even if we had somewhere to go, we wouldn’t get far from here like this. We’re too weak right now.”

“Shit…”

Red knew that Gojinn was right. Suddenly, four of the soldiers forced him down onto his knees as well.

“CA-nook de-sa!”

One of the soldiers pulled his sword back, about to swing it at Red’s head. The sunlight gleamed off of the very sharp and deadly looking blade.

“Whoa, wait a minute! No, not ca nook desa or whatever the hell you just said!”

“IK-gab oohee! FE-raoh aenah ohooee eay-ha Atlantis?!”

Red didn’t know what to say or do. The soldiers were quickly getting more impatient.

“FO-ret! CA-nook de-sa!!!”

The soldier started to swing his sword.

“Fuck this…”

Red shot upwards, tearing out of the soldiers’ grip on him, and landed a punch of the soldier swinging the sword’s face, knocking both him and the sword to the sand. The other soldiers almost immediately reacted as Red reached for the sword. They beat him down onto the ground with their fists and the handles of their weapons. Once they were satisfied, they pulled him back up to his knees. Fresh blood dripped from his mouth and nose, but he was still alive. The soldier that got punched climbed to his feet and picked up his sword, an angry look on his face. He got ready to try and swing it at Red again.

“AM-dus!”

The soldier stopped in mid-swing, a disappointed look now on his face. Several more soldiers walked out onto the beach towards them, carrying shackles. They attached them to Red and Gojinn’s arms and legs and began escorting them off of the beach to a strong wooden gate that was built into the stone wall.

“Well, at least that seemed to have delayed my death.”

“What they might do to us now could be worse than death. Who knows what kind of weapons, devices, and powers these people have.”

The gate slid upwards and they were taken into the city, the gate shutting behind them. They passed many stone buildings and pillars and also what appeared to be a marketplace. People stopped what they were doing and stared as the two foreigners passed.

“IF we can escape, any idea how we can get back to our time?”

“Maybe we can find another portal somewhere.”

They went by a giant stone statue of someone. Red was guessing it was the leader of the city or maybe some kind of god they worshipped. He could smell something, perhaps food cooking.

“You do know that if we ever get out of here, I still plan on killing you, right?”

“I wouldn’t expect any less from you, Red.”

They kept walking, having no clue where the soldiers were taking them. Red figured it’d end up being either a prison or a courtyard to publicly execute them in.
