Of course you can use a CD, but I don't see why you have "too much data".

I'm not sure to what you are referring, but you shouldn't have too much data for the assignments I give - unless you are including many extra picture files. Anyway, almost any secondary storage medai is acceptable; floppies are simply the cheapest and most convenient.
