![]() Little Confusedby PattyTony,(or whoever knows the answer) I'm a little confussed about lab 4. I started to make my web page, but for number 1 & 2 of that section, I'm not sure what it is I'm supposed to do, like adding FSU site onto it, and adding my e-mail address onto it. It doesn't show where to do that. from IP address 70.106.46.232 |
![]() I don't see how I can be more explicit. I give exact details of what to do.by TonyTo see what an e-mail link looks like, place your cursor over the "E-mail Tony" link under "FEEDBACK" on the NAVIGATION PANEL. If you can't figure it out, see me during class period in Pulen tomorrow. from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
![]() Diskettesby RachelIs there any way in the future that we can turn in assignments on CD's? My computer does not have a floppy disk drive reader and found it was inconvenient to have to use campus computers when I did the bulk of the work on my personal computer. from IP address 131.118.85.202 |
![]() Yes, but not CDs. Use a CD-RW or DVD, something that I can save files on.by TonyActually, from Lab 5 on, you will publish your files on a Web server, so this issue will be irrelevant. from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
![]() Part C of LAB IIIbyI think I have parts one and two done, but I'm not for sure about Part C. I'm not for sure how to create a "link" containing two other documents into another. Hopefully I can get the homework to your mailbox this afternoon, but considering I'm having some difficulties it might be later on during this Friday of March 2. I'd just like the instruction, not really having someone to do this COSC 120 homework for me. I spent from 11 a.m. till 5:30 p.m. last night, and I think I've made progress here. from IP address 131.118.85.202 |
![]() meet tomorrowby PattyTony, i have class at 12- 1pm, so I'll come over when i'm done. I'm confused about part C, but it could be that I'm so tired, I've been working on this all day, then maybe you can show me how to get those pics on also. see ya tomorrow from IP address 70.106.46.232 |
![]() Part A - Gif Questionby RachelIn Part A, in Part 2 it says that a GIF File cannot be copied. But on my computer I was able to copy it and save to my hard drive. Should I submit that copy or go ahead and reproduce in a new document what it says? It seems like that would be a waste of time, seeing as though the GIF can indeed be copied? from IP address 70.109.86.129 |
![]() You missunderstood the intent of the sentence. ...by TonyYou can copy a GIF, but you couldn't edit the words in it, so you must copy the text of the HTML document on FOLDOC, edit the words, and submit your modified copy to me. I presented the example as a GIF because, had I left it as in HTML, you could "cheat" by coping my example - I wouldn't be able to detect that. So I presented the text as a picture (a GIF file). The difference is copying a GIF and copying text in HTML. from IP address 131.118.85.202 |
![]() Confussionby PattyTony, I'm a little confused on Part B of lab 3, do we copy what you have down already?? You really can't tell what is italicized or not. Sorry to bother you. from IP address 70.106.46.232 |
![]() No, do not copy anything of mine. Copy the definition verbatim, from FOLDOC....by TonyThe italics are in the 4th paragraph (beginning with "Other common...") and 7th paragraph ("Latest extension...") of the example. If this doesn't help, come to Pullen 110 tomorrow at 12:00 or 1:00 when I am giving assessments in my COSC100 course. I will be free from about 10 after the hour to 30 past, while students are taking the assessment. from IP address 131.118.85.202 |
![]() copying iconby PattyTony, I am having probelms, I can't get the icon to copy onto my document, among other things, which so far I've worked out, with a lot of time racked up. Help please. from IP address 70.106.46.232 |
![]() Don't think I can improve on my instructions, but...by AnonymousTo copy an image into an HTML document, you have to: 1. Save the image (a GIF, JPEG, PNG, etc. file) on your system, e.g. hard drive. 2. Insert the image into your document. To do this, in Netscape Composer, (1) place your cursor where you want the image to appear, (2) click the "Image" button on Composer, (3) on the pop-up "Image Properties" dialog box, click the "Choose file..." button, (4) browse to where you saved the image (in step 1), (5) and click the OK button. (You you will have to fill in other stuff on the dialog box, but it is irrelevant.) The image should appear in your document. Of course, if you move your document or save it at another location, you will need to do the same with the image; they are separate files. If this doesn't help, come to Pullen 110 tomorrow at 12:00 or 1:00 when I am giving assessments in my COSC100 course. I will be free from about 10 after the hour to 30 past, while students are taking the assessment. from IP address 131.118.85.202 |
![]() Lab 3 correctionby TammyTony, Lab 3 Part A: Preview of HTML Authoring, Should the SIMPLE HTML DOCUMENT be saved as lab3a.htm instead of lab4a.htm? from IP address 208.103.132.229 |
![]() Yes, thank you. I have corrected the typo.by TonyPlease keep your "eagle eye" out for similar slip ups. from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
![]() Lab 2?by PattyTony, did you get both copies of Lab 2 I sent you?!! On lab 1, I over looked doing the other two web sites that went along with CNet (ZDNet & Slashdel), my mistake. I've been checking on current ann. for the answers for #2, was the answer England? from IP address 70.106.46.232 |
![]() I am in the process of checking the Lab 2 e-mails now. I have many similar labs...by Tonyin three courses, so I won't finish them until late, or perhaps tomorrow. I am replying to your message, so check the account from which you sent your original message. from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
![]() Class- February 27, 2007by TammyTony, I was wondering if you are going to be in class tomorrow? I have some questions about Lab 3. I hope that I am not the only one that seems a little confused. Please let me know if you will be available. from IP address 69.72.70.235 |
![]() Yes, I will be in Pullenby Tony... from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
![]() Copying and pasteing iconsby TammyTony, I am having trouble trying to copy and paste the CHOOSE and F.S.U. icons for Lab 3 PART A. 2.B.e. and C. Everytime that I copy and paste the picture, it is pasteing the COSC 120 and F.S.U. links to my document. I am not sure why this keeps happening. from IP address 69.72.70.235 |
![]() You might be copying the image location and not the image...by TonyI am not sure from you "symptoms", but if you right click and choose "save image as" you will get a copy on your computer that you can use in your documents. If this doesn't help, see me during class time. from IP address 71.61.213.220 |

![]() Lab IIbyTony -- I e-mailed you LAB II this morning. It might not be what you want, especially with part two of the assignment. Tell me what you think here. Again, is a "commecial account" just my own e-mail communications? Thanks! -- Bruce from IP address 131.118.85.202 |
![]() Thanksby RachelThanks Patty and Steve, I was really concerned that the Net Meeting was going to be the splinter in my side this semester. Glad to hear Tracy took it out. from IP address 70.106.49.121 |
![]() It's not out, just postponed until we get together so I can show you what is easer...by Tony"said than read". Anyway, until further notice, you are not responsible for NetMeeting. from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
![]() Netmeetingby Steve FJust read the previous posts about Netmeeting, after completing the LAB. But just thought id add this anyway. Even if you wanted to download Netmeeting and install it is impossible. It will only install on the following: Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000; Windows 2000 Service Pack 2; Windows 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows 95; Windows 98; Windows ME; Windows NT XP isn't one of them, which is on all computers between 2002-end of 2006 from IP address 71.61.229.31 |
![]() Confused, Netmeeting is already on all Windows versions, including XP.by TonyRead about using NetMeeting with XP in the Checklists,2.4.1.1.1. and on the Current Announcements, Introduction and Timeless Announcements, item 6.1.1. NetMeeting works; it is just blocked by FSU's network security. It is also complicated to use if you have a router on your computer, which is now rather common. (You have to configure your router to allow NetMeeting transmissions.) Consequently, I will not use NetMeeting now, but I will demonstrate it in class someday, probably after ans assessment. We can use it for project presentations if we are all in the same LAN, but that really misses the utility of that great program. I'm sad to say this; it's the first time in probably 10 years that I've had to abandon NetMeeting, but I guess it is "progress" - "BACKWARDS"!!! Anyway, until further notice, don't worry about NetMeeting. If you manage to get it to work, good for you. from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
![]() Net Meeting, part 2by RachelIn my last message I mistyped "sound card and updated microphone". I meant to say updated sound card and lack of microphone. Rachel from IP address 70.106.49.121 |
![]() Netmeetingby PattyRachel, we don't have to worry about the netmeeting part of this lab, just the e-mail part. On the syllabus, Tony crossed it out, because I had e-mailed him about it. from IP address 70.106.46.232 |
![]() Yes, thanks Patty. Also, Read my response to Steve F's NetMeeting post, above, for more..by Tonyexplanation. from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
![]() Net Meetingby RachelQuick question, if I don't have the computer cababilites to do netmeeting via my computer (sound card and updated microphone) than what should I do? I asked my mom about her use of Netmeeting and she only uses it for meetings to present slides and not to use as a commuincator between people? Will our presentations require verbal commuincation, if so how should I go about it? from IP address 70.106.49.121 |
![]() Read my response to Steve F's NetMeeting post, above.by TonyFor the present, ignore NetMeeting. (Sad to say this.) from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
![]() Picking up first labby PattyTony, if it's ok with you, I'll pick up my lab tomorrow, I have class at 12:00, I sure do hope your feeling better, I know it's hard to function when your in pain, I deal with everyday. from IP address 70.106.46.232 |
![]() Account Numberby TammyTony, On our Lab 120-2 under Part E Assignment 1 A. What does it mean by the account number? I have my F.S.U. e-mail account straightened out now. Thanks for the advice! from IP address 69.72.71.152 |
![]() I'm confused...by TonyIn Lab 2, Part E, item 1 (or 1.A) there is no "account number" mentioned. If you mean item 1.B.b, that is the account for the chat service you are using. Actually it's not a big deal; I don't really have to have your chat account details. from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
![]() Part E: 1. B. b.by TammyTony, I did mean Part E. 1. B. b. of Lab 2 in my posting. Thanks for answering my question. I also wanted to let you know that I stopped today after 1:00 and the Lab 1 papers were not in the folder yet. Can I pick mine up next week when I am on campus? Thank-you! from IP address 69.72.71.2 |
![]() The graded labs are in the OUT folder now. Pick yours up as soon as possible.by Tony... from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
![]() Graded Lab 1by TammyTony, I will come up to pick-up my graded Lab 1, around 2:30 today. from IP address 69.72.71.174 |
![]() Do we need to meet??by PattyTony, do we need to meet this week in class for anything? Also I reading through some of the things under assignments, it talks about turning in answers from the preassessment hub, is that required from us also? Sorry to bother you with all these questions. from IP address 70.106.54.75 |
![]() I will be available during class time, but there is no need to meet, unless...by Tonyyou are having trouble. No, since the preassessments and proficiency evaluations are all self checking, there is no need to submit anything to me. You must be reading some old instructions that I haven't updated. I've removed one oversite on the preassessment hub, but if I missed anything that says you should turn in preassessments or proficiency evaluations, let me know. Tell me exactly where they are and I will update those documents. Thank for letting me know of these oversights. from IP address 71.61.213.220 |
