All of the players who are still interested in playing "A" are gravitating to the top teams. The result is that multiple teams are folding this year in numbers never seen before. The same thing at AA. When the dust settles and you can see the casualties, it may be time to re-think the 2-year card among other things...it also doesn't help that in the west for example, you are playing for second place for your whole career with teams from AA staying down in A to rack up medallions. In girls hockey, they re-categorize the sandbaggers mid season so everyone is on a level playing field. The Penguins had 60 players wanting to play on a winning team (it's human nature) while others had 2. It makes it impossile to build a program with everyone chasing the top team. If you want to complain about the 1% owning everything then look no further than the GTHL where the are really only 2 teams that stand a chance of winning. Just an observation after 12 years of minor hockey. It's been a good run...off to the next adventure.
