At this age group, your players didn't move up, they moved away from you. The "A" level is a developmental level in the younger age groups. The role of the coach at this level is to not only develop the players but to keep an eye on new potential players to replace the ones that move up. If you run a good program, then the players you try to recruit in the future want to come to you. Eventually, when you hit the midget age group (minor, jr or sr), the players tend to move down to play with their friends on good teams.
The name of the organization doesn't matter, its the coaches and the programs of the teams. Name me any organization, even the ones with the bad reps, and you will find good teams even in those.
Bottomline, when players reach this age, there are fewer of them playing hockey. So the ones who are, want to be in the best possible situation for their final season.
