Most teams have 3 levels of players. Those top few that may be able to play up a level. Those in the middle who are average players who contibute at their level. And the bottom players who could either deveope into the middle by season end or who may drop down a level next year.
Teams like the sharks have all their players at the top level and that is why they are doing so well but, how many other teams can claim that?
That is the truth if you want to believe it and it pertains to most teams.

When season started coach was away for 1 month+ on holidays in Australia. The current 2 top forwards who scored most of their goals this year are moving up to AA, and the Islanders organization has mandated the coach drop 8-10 players from current roster (they send scouts out to their games and pick the players that need to be cut or change the coach if he doesn't go along with it). This will be a new team next year entirely.

Maybe Islanders should ask if the coach's are any good. They have not helped this team at all. Friend on this team and same old drills nothing new. If you ask me any coach that leave for 4+ weeks for holiday should not be asked back.

This team will be bottom feeder again. Coach is good guy but totally uncommitted. Defensive coach is useless, and kids hate him. Coaches can not get along with each other let alone motivate the kids. I would stay as far away from this team as possible - pretty well any other team is a better better bet for 2008-09

you are not kidding, kids and parents are goons! sore loosers and rude. When they took a beating again the Aeros, they were fuming, thinking they were all that. Looser parents yelling at their own coach from stands, yelling at their kids, yelling at parents from opposing team, yelling at the referees. Horrible and shameful to be part of that organization!

You can't get cut from a team you haven't tried out for. Why would anyone try-out for this team, when you can play the same hockey in NYHL, only difference, its probably cheaper. Don't get offended by this, just face reality, your team would be hard pressed to beat a select team.
Ask the AA kids who dropped down, how different the hockey is in this division. Enjoy the rest of the season as it will be over soon, say by the end of February, and I'm being generous.

I'm not a parent on this team and have never been one either. What I will say is that my son tried out for this team and two others. The Islanders will be no match for the Aeros. Willowdale seems to be in trouble. My son is back to select. Good luck y'all!

Hey people! season is ready to start..Markham Islander's great goalies, one NHL's for sure (greek father thinks his father is) yet when he played AA he warmed up that bench pretty good! The other goalie hmmm...out to lunch half the time but he will also be there to save the day! The trainer's kid, one strong, tough guy who can play D or F will be there to hold the line HAHAHAHA! Oh ya the greasy manager's kid, maybe some grease from his hair will drip on ice and other players wont be able to skate. HAHAHAHA. The stats man also has a strong, tough, relentless son who is not afraid to challenge the puck when he is not hiding in the corner if he sees a player from the other team coming at him. Great coaching has gotten them into the position to slide into 6th place. Who knows, if he had a few more games, he just might coach them right out of the playoffs. Afterall, they come up big in nonplayoff tournaments like the Founders.
Time to go back to reffing fulltime, even your ref buddies can't help you win games.
