Most teams have 3 levels of players. Those top few that may be able to play up a level. Those in the middle who are average players who contibute at their level. And the bottom players who could either deveope into the middle by season end or who may drop down a level next year.

Teams like the sharks have all their players at the top level and that is why they are doing so well but, how many other teams can claim that?

That is the truth if you want to believe it and it pertains to most teams.

There might be 1 spot or 2 at most on Hillcrest as well. Most of the team has been offered return tickets and accepted. Looks like the Penguins are staying together also, with maybe 4 spots there as well.

The only team with a lot of openings will be Willowdale and I assume the Colts. Expect to see a few Aeros on Willowdale next year.

why not go to the PENS

they beat Hillcrest in the playoffs and with a few key defections at Markham and North York should be in the top 3

Plus, they are only bringing back their top players which means there are 5-6 spots available but are getting alot of calls from the west

He's actually been a good owner but has received bad press. He pissed off the wrong people within the GTHL and that caused him much grief.

He owns the Penguins and Aeros. Both are run separately with different GMs. The Penguins have been the one more successful when it comes to the standings but from what I understand, the Aeros are one happy family. Unfortunately that family is breaking up.

As to the Penguins, they are primarily staying together and building to a top 3 finish next season. There's probably 4 to 5 positions available as they are trying to upgrade the bottom third of their roster. The team is well run with lots of sponsorship $$'s, therefore the actual cost to the parents is not huge in comparison to the other individually owned teams.

"Stu Hyman & co." refers to his son and a package kid that comes with him - both apparently play select. Apparently the current coach got stiffed this year with extra fees from mg't and after having Hyman's kid forced down his throat said bye-bye for next season.

He gave Hyman some $$ and a BJ to get the team now your kid is gonna pay.
If you wanna finish last sign up with him. DO YOUR RESEARCH!! I didn't even bring my kid to the tryout when I heard he was coaching a few years ago. No hockey sense and a bad temper. 3500$ for your kid to ride the pine.

whats your problem with Lurch

Here is the facts - his kid plays alot but #7 was also our best player nand we went most of the year with 5D

He runs great pactices and is a No BS guy

It looks like my kid is going to play AA this year - Lurch helped alot in making that happen

Do you honestly think he needs to coach to get his kid icetime. No matter who coaches #7 will see alot of icetime- if Lurch didnt step up and run the practices for the last 2 years the pens would have been screwed.

If AA doesnt work out- and I come back to A then I would have NO problem going to a team with this guy helping out

Obviously your kid wasn't one of the other 4 defensemen on this team. The issue is this, no question #7 is a good player, but if he's not playing well, don't keep playing him over other kids who are playing better. Lurch, your kid isn't the best player in the league like you think. If he was, he wouldn't still be playing A hockey.

My son is going to AA as well but if we were to return to A, we would never play on a team with Brian as the coach. We were on the penguins 2 years ago and we left primarily because of Brian. His ego alone would be reason enough to leave but how he uses his son over players who are as good or better is crazy. As to other coaches using his son the same way as he does, didn't he leave the Islanders a few years ago because the coach wasn't using his son. Since then, he's coached his son and he's got lots of ice time.

Thankfully we got out and had a great season. Developed under a system that used all their players and because of that, he's now going to a top half AA team.

Then I got lucky and spoke to a couple of parents have were previously involved with these guys. I then did a bit more research and decided not to commit. These guys are very smooth and I can see how its easy to fall for their talk but do your research before you sign with them.
