The West will have less compition due to the Sharks leaving, the other teams may be losing good players to AA. In the end the Rangers are staying with 90% of last years team which by mid season came together nicely.

I would be very surprised if they lose one game next year. My only concern is their coaching staff and their ego's, they may end up being their own worst enemys.

1- Rangers
2- Sharks
3- West Mall
4- Panthers
5- Avalanche
6- Royals
7- Duffield
8- Ice Dogs
9- Downsview
10- Huskies
11- Toronto Eagles

A little too early for this isn't it?? Tryouts start tonight so there is no way anyone knows how each team looks for next year.

Great insight above - flipped 1 and 2 from last year and no other substantive changes!!

VR lost games to teams other than the HVS last year, no way they go undefeated next year. I bet you see a lot of parity from 1 to 6 next year.

Not substantive. You flipped Avalanche and Panthers (3 points apart), Devils and Royal (2 points apart) and Eagles and Beavers (4 points apart). Also you completely ignored the new kids on the block - the Attack. At least wait until tryouts are over before you let us in on all your knowledge.

No way the Sharks are number 2 this year. They are a Select team moving up to A. They'll be competitive but not dominant. Put them around 6 or 7.

remind me - what place did the Beavers come in last season? was it 10th? There is a new team from Amesbury that will increase your odds of "doing better". If TT is still the coach, then the Beavers are in trouble, as are we all.

That's a bunch of hooey. The TP coaching staff is a joke. Coach has to go get advice from noncaoching staff. There's always problems with the coaching staff, bickering like a bunch of 15 year old girls. The coach lies straight to your face. Check out their thread. Catch him impersonating other people to further his agenda, then getting caught at it, then apologizing. Free advertising! He got caught with his pants down, way to go coach!

In the East:

1. Flames
2. Knights
3. Thunder
4. Islanders
5. Hillcrest
6. Kings
7. Willowdale
8. Penguins
9. Aces
10. Colts
11. Aeros

There might be minor fluctuation's in the last 3 spots, but does it matter?

Flames & Knights will be close - Knights have strengthened a bit, Flames weakened a bit. Thunder have picked up a lot with many from last year not re-signed. Hillcrest is the exact same team minus 2 changes. Markham have lost their top players to AA, but picked up some good prospects who depending on how they perform could move them to top 3. Kings, virtually the same team. Willowdale have lost most of their really bad players, and picked up some of the better Aeros who moved over as a group. Aces have lost their top scorer.

Let's see by Xmas how wrong/right this is.

Top end is close. Bottom end is pretty funny. Penguins will be at least 15 points ahead of the Blackhaws. Hawks lost their best player and all of their replacements come from another non playoff team.

Pure guesswork really. The loss of last year's Sharks, two new select teams (Attack and Sharks) throw a lot of variables up in the air. Questions to ask:

Did the Rangers lose significant players to AA and did they increase in size?
Did West Mall improve their defence?
Did Duffield retain their goalie (the real reason for their excellent performance last season)?
Did the Avalanch hold on to their core? They made major improvements last season - were they able to build on it?
Did the Eagles improve their defence?
How many players did the Panthers lose to other teams??
Was Humber Valley able to add some A players to their lineup?
Did they Royals pick up any speed whatsoever? Their team last year was slow and their coaches taught them to slow things down even more (stay down when you're checked, the refs will give a bigger penalty to the other team).
Ice Dogs lost a lot of players - who are the replacements?
Did the Beavers keep their nutbar coach?

1) Rangers
2) West Mall
3) Duffield
4) Avalanche
5) Eagles
6) Panthers
7) Humber Valley
8) Royals
9) Ice Dogs
10) Beavers
11) Huskies
12) Attack

The Sharks are the Humber Valley team, in case you didn't know. They will place much lower down than you are used to seeing them. Basically, everybody gets elevated a position because they are a Select team playing A.

I think that everyone in the above list will finish right near where the above poster suggests. My only question mark on that list is the Eagles. I understand that they were hoping for some strong defections from other teams that did not occur. They still had a number of openings going into tryouts. They might not improve as much as the poster thinks.

1) Rangers (#2 unbeaten and games in hand...need to win them to keep pace)
2) West Mall (tied for #3, lost to Devils tonight 6-4 and now trailing)
3) Duffield (Surprise so far, unbeaten in 11, big weekend ahead vs Rangers 2x and Royals)
4) Avalanche (#6...size will start to matter and depth)
5) Eagles (right where you guessed and will probably stay there)
6) Panthers (stay away from suspensions and results might improve from #8)
7) Humber Valley (slow start to-date. Next 12 games will tell if they cam make the playoffs)
8) Royals (stronger than 1st thought...top 4 team this year)
9) Ice Dogs (will have their challenges to get the right to face #1 in the 1st round)
10) Beavers (TT gone and so are there chances for the playoffs...going in the wrong direction again)
11) Huskies (#7..better but on the edge)
12) Attack (1st year team and will be looking at a long year to adjust...'08 may be a better thought)

I've grouped the teams into top, middle, and bottom of the pack.

In no particular order:

Top 4 teams are:

West Mall
Rangers
Icedogs
Avalanche

Middle of the pack teams:

Royals
Panthers
Devils
Sharks

Bottom of the pack:

Beavers
Huskies
Eagles

The top four teams will be an interesting bunch to see how things pan out. I'd be really surprized if one team dominates like the Sharks last year.

But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I feel that the Sharks and Royals are probably best in the bottom four ranking, although that would make it a bottom 6 group. Sharks being a Select team will have difficulty. the Royals last year performed over their heads - they were very slow and if the bottom teams have improved at all in speed then the Royals will drop a couple of places. A lot of their games were very close last year.

Downsview could surprise - depends on if they keep their cool and whether or not they've improved on defence, which was their big weakness. They had good team speed but didn't really play a team game - if they can figure that out, they'll probably end up in the mid-pack. If TT blows up regularly, they'll lose focus and stay near the bottom. I still think the Huskies can do a lot better than last year and should move up 3 or 4 spots.

Nice response, Mario. If I'm not mistaken, you were the one crying when T.T beat you out of the clancy. Wait and see what he has in store for you this year. Oh, before I forget, don't forget to come shopping at the end of the season for players on his team like most of the other coaches do. I guess they all know where the developed players come from.

I think the Rangers are "the team to beat", now that the Sharks are gone. Nobody else is really close, althought the Lightning MIGHT have a shot depending on how much they've improved... but that would be an upset.

Rangers will implode! Every parent thinks their kid is better than every other kid. Different agendas. Typical selfish Vaughan behavior. A talented team that will underperform and then choke come Jan when the kids have found spots for next year.

Westmall and Avalanche will be tough

Humber Valley will be a Wild Card

Humberview and Duffield are unknown. Huskies look improved

Panthers, Icedogs, attack, the best of the rest
Royals, Beavers prepare for the Clancy.

Applewood is in the MHL and not the GTHL. lol.

.....and if you want to talk about MHL A then Applewood won't be the team to beat. Lorne Park will. Yeah they did not make the playoffs but they've won the clancy. Given that they had a new coach this year plus a whole new team built on house league players they've done quite well for themselves.

These guys are gonna be like the LP of old. How many years in a row did they win the A division tittle in Miss btw?

More than Applewood that's for sure.

No you're wrong. I know the coach. He coached one of their select blue teams the year before. This is his "second" season coaching at the "A" level, (2007 - 2008 season). Last year was his first year in the A loop. I know because he wanted my son to play on his team and I had already had given my commitment to another.

Brad is a good coach and from what I've seen he's going to do quite well with the team in the upcoming season.

best two teams in the GTA will come from Mississauga. Lets face it Applewood is going to the provincials unless something really off happens. They already lost a very good player for a bunch of games and are still wining. If they sweep Erindale this week they are all but through to the Metro's and will have their way with the teams from the GTHL and SHA. The battle for second is more interesting but given how little both Erindale and Meadowvale are able to score the battle should shape up to be between PC and LP. LP is bigger and has better goal tending. PC is quicker and crafty great games to watch. Too bad two mississauga teams can't play in the metro's as they would finish one 1 and 2.

How do you know what the Applewood team is doing? Why would you say they were afraid to move up? As far as I can remember this is the first year that they have done this well so why would they have moved up before now? Unlike LP who needed to crush everyone for a couple of years before they made the move.

Why are you people so down on Applewood? Oh maybe it's because your kid didn't make it. I know my kid doesn't play for Applewood but I sure wish he did.

Maybe before you talk you should get your facts straight. The brawl (as you call it) happened in front of the PC goalie when one of the AP kids got cross-checked from behind by one of the small PC kids (as your put it). At that point, and don't give me the crap of PC's small players, they were all hitting on the kid on the ice including the big goalie who should have been suspended because goalies shouldn't be getting involved. I'm sure he felt safe in numbers. Before you start slandering get your facts right. You sound like a parent of a kid who either got cut or your kid didn't make it. The AP coach is a stand up guy and if your kid is too small put him in house league where he belongs. It's funny when a coach works hard to help his team get better he is always slandered by jealous parents such as yourself. If you had seen (because as you say you drove to Port Credit to check out the game) other games you would see how not dirty this Applewood team is.

GET A LIFE and as I said get your facts straight before you open you big mouth because you never know this is a very small hockey world and your kid could be playing with anyone of those players at some time but then again if he's anything like what you sound like - poor kid won't get far or no one will want him because of your pathetic mouth.

Applewood did not let their kids show poor sportsmanship. Actually is was the PC kids. After cross checking an AP kid from behind all the poor little PC players were hitting on him including the goalie. So tell me who is showing poor sportsmanship? I believe PC got more penalties on that play than the AP kids. So what does that tell you. Actually the goalie should have been tossed. Do you think that if it were the other way around the PC players wouldn't stand up for their player who had been hit and being hit on.

Like the previous person said GET A LIFE. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

who will be the team to beat in 95A next season

I think any kid from any team that goes out against PC is bigger. They should have thought of picking up some bigger kids instead of complaining about being beat on. The only big kid they have is the goalie and that's not saying much.

I think all these 12 year old boys (operative word "12 year old")can all be proud of their accomplishments and they should all stand proud.

You guys are as bad as the GTHL sites and they ain't pretty.

My son and I went to watch that game as he plays for one of the other teams in this loop and we figured it would be fun to watch. Yes PC did win fair and square, it wasn't one of AP's best, but to say that the AP kids beat up on the poor little PC players is utterly ridiculous as it was the PC players who were doing the beating. 5 PC kids on top of 1 AP player and then the goalie throwing punches. Very well coached team I would say. NOT. The PC coaches should actually be ashamed of the way their kids acted but they are probably walking around with their chests out feeling proud. Nothing to be proud of there. This is usually the PC way.

okay buddy i'm not sure who you think I am but personally I can't even skate let alone play for was it the sue? So I'm assuming Mr. Hale is the AP coach, what is with you did your kid try out for the team and not get picked or let me guess was on the team and got cut. You know what, let the kids play and stop acting like a bunch of morons. It's parents like you that give your kid a bad name so just stop.

There are a lot of unknowns - but putting the Sharks and Attach anywhere higher than the bottom four is wishful thinking. Just won't happen. that said, i think you'll see the standings looking a lot tighter this year as teams are able to improve their rosters up and down the standings. Think about it, you've had 3 years to clear out whatever mistakes were inherited from novice select - those players are out of the A level, for the most part.

Outside of Duffield there isn't much competition this year. The Rangers should do very well, this team was built over the last 3 years and with every year it is natural for a team to grow stronger together. The same happened with the Sharks last year, if you stay together with the same kids the results will be positive. I would be very shocked if the Rangers fail to win it this year just based on the facts stated above. Although they have other issues the kids are not one of them.
