Tom last season with the aeros took there money and didnt get them into an away tournament as promised. He also held a "tryout" and charged 20$ he told me he had alot of sisters and was saving money to get that total one stick, and looking forward to get those apx's he's a scam. He tells people to come out and tries to persue them onto there team, he's called one of my pals atleast 300 times. Like buddy if he doesn't wanna play and tells you the first time, do you think he'll change his mind after the 299 th time... Don't do it, he " charms" his way in there and persues people and then they get caught in a team who's 0-36.. Look at the squidward posts, he made those and talks alot of crap to kids I don't care, I'm just lettingyou know for your own good hopefully this helps...

charging $20 for tryout sessions is not much ..most people carry 20's these days due to Bank ATM's therefore it makes it easier to handle cash trancactions.. So what if he is pocketing a few dollars (if that is the case)..

Can't comment on not going to away tournaments...there could have been a number of reasons that prevented this from happening ( timing, level of competition, logistics etc...)

If his previous team was 0-36 , what did you do to contribute to the success of the team or not ..

There is no way in the world that such a record ( if accurate ) could soley be blamed on the coach... where were the players ?? what were they doing ?? it is easy and convenient to blame the "coach".. The coach is only part of the problem , and perhaps so were you and your friend ...

Has anyone ever taken the time to consider the price of ice or does Tom get ice for free? Does he have 90 skaters on the ice @ $20 per head? AAA charges 50 so what are you trying to imply? HOw did TT get the team......I talked to the original coach and he was not having very much luck getting boys out. He was awesome too with some really good connections and had a great Assistant coach with connections to AAA. How did you get to TT.

Saw a few of his practices last year and well......I saw them. Some of the players had a lot of heart but its hard to take a year of losses.....

Why does it matter to you how he got this team? Tom has been able to raise this team from the dead after tryouts, no advertising. Previous assistant was not awarded the team for his backstabbing of the head coach. Head coach grabbed his kid and moved on. Contacts with AAA players to play A? Good luck with that. At this age payers generally go with their pals as this the case with this team and others. Tom's son brought some of his buddies from his school team and they are AA calibre players.

As you know many of us are new to this organization and also to Tom..

I wanted to know what we were getting ourselves into and started reading the two discussion forums associated to this team..

It appears that there has been some history between Tom and previous players and parents ( this is not to be unexpected as these things happen no matter who you are)...

These posts overall are of no value and use since there appears to be several persons who continue to harass and defame Tom... they have had their opportunity to present their case but have failed to..

As per the recent allegations posted that Tom was being "investigated " by the GTHL , and that we contact Scott Oakman of the GTHL, I did so...

I'm having second thoughts about my son playing on this team. I know he is carded but also know I have until November to pull him out. Anyone else feeling this way. This news feed is just too much, how can a whole website be focused on one coach and none of it be true.

I would warn any parent on this team to contact the organizations mentioned and see what they say. There must be a reason that he has been removed from so many teams. Maybe you should find out why?

This list does not even include a number of teams that asked him to coach and then backed out based on parent investigations and information they got from other organizations.

If you do find that what I am saying is true you may want to remove your child from the team. I also believe that you have a responsibility to discuss this with the Amesbury organization so that other parents are protected as well.

We've been with Tom in the past and live hid enthusiasm. I don't know too many coaches out there that will organize a game of pickup and participate as Tom does.
Tom has always made time for his players and has treated them as equals. He has no favorites, has always been approachable and is honest. This man wears his heart on his sleeve for all to see. What you see from the begining is what you'll get at the end of the season.

A great teacher, mentor, friend and the biggest kid on the ice.

For sure, we loved his enthusiasm too. Great guy, my kid had a blast, tom is one of the best developer out there and is extremely devoted. For example, he came tiny sons AA tryout and was the first one to congstulate him on signing. Very classy guy. Kudos to you Tom.

Tom has been an amazing coach and an inspiration to not just the players themselves but to all members of the orginization. Though I am not a membet of this years team due to friends on other teams pulling me away. I would not hesistate even for a second to jump aboard one of his teams given the oppurtunity and it saddens me to see that little benchwarming pussies such as some of the above players still think that their narrow sited oppinion seems to hold any weight in this discussion and even go as far as to spread lies about "investigations"

Islanders that good or was Amesbury that bad? Just an off night?

Islanders pretty good - probably could have scored 3 or 4 more, but Amesbury was having an off night. Started strong, fell apart late in second and third. If they put three periods together, they will be a decent team.

Islanders much improved and will be a top 3 team in the east. Amesbury look solid but penalties steal issue in the third. I guess new rules are going to hurt.

As a new parent to the team, it has been an interesting experience...

Firstly , my son is very positive about his coach TT... Surprised aren't you..

Secondly, the team is evolving given that it is a new team with players from everywhere...

We are still adding more solid players just getting their skating legs .. watch out things will be getting better....

Yes the Vaughn Rangers game was not a great experience , however stuff happens...

We had the privilege of playing back to back games (Toronto Royals ) less than 24 hours earlier (thank you GTHL for messing up my Thanksgiving weekend)

Toronto Royals game was 3 to 1 (includes open net goal)... competitive yes ..

Previous games for those who don't really have the details ...

First game of season - WM Lighting 3-0 ( first goal bs.. hit the post and popped out - terrible call by ref) .. 3rd goal open net .. not bad for team with 10 skaters..

Second game: Humber Valley - very close - competitive 2 to 1 loss

Third game: Vaughn Panthers - not so good - played poorly - lost 7 to 2

Fourth Game: Avalanche - same as third game - spanked 8 to 3...

Overall three solid games, three not so..

In summary the person who suggested pylons instead of goalie - I have a better suggestion where you could put them...

I would stronly recommend as you seem like a positive person who is supporting his/her son that you take a look at the GTHL website for players wanted and get the hell off any team Tom coaches. You still have time, or I promise you the facts above, and they are facts will repeat themselve this year as they have in the past years (also a fact). You and your son will be dissapointed at the coach, the lack of participation by the team, the money and time you spent and wasted.

Fact- no away tourneys last year, only one player jersey, plus alot more cuts to the budget that the parents were not reinbursed for. More importantly my son didn't like having his name put on the back of his practice jersey, all the other kids on the team razed him for it and it only made him disresct Tom and took away from the momentum of trying to win just one game, which they never did.

The real question is why you would bring your son to every game and practice if he was being so abused. Toms a great coach and person and you know it. You have another agenda. I am a parent on the ATTACK, and I can confirm that even though we only had 9 or 10 guys, it is true that Leaside had 8 to start the game and one suspended early on in the game so they were playing us with 7...Don't know why the above poster is lying saying they had 13 players...

Another leaside parent in denial. Can't accept the fact that attacks 9 gave the mighty 13 flames the game of their lives. Leasides goalie saved their ass. He played well and stopped them from embarrassment. Attack will be most improved come seasons end. That's the real truth.

I honestly have to give it to the attack, they put a team together after losing all their players that seems to be competitive against many teams, however I know for a fact the above post is a lie. Not like it really matters how many players each team has, the final score matters, but I hate to see these stupid lies and stupid sites such as this. My team played Leaside the day after Leaside played your team, and with the amount of long-term injuries and concussions they had, they would've been able to put max 10 guys on the ice the previous day. Also, I was informed of the game before by sources from other teams not being Leaside, and to not embarrass you I'll keep those facts to myself, but ets just say to say Leaside's goalie saved their ass is...well....just a lie. Just be happy that you guys are in these games its a good thing that you guys are competitive and the rest of the league is rooting for you guys, I don't see the purpose of lying to make people believe your team should really be 10-0-1 instead of 0-10-1

I am an Attack parent that attended the Leaside game..

I usually notice the number of skaters per team but did not do an accurate count as both teams appeared to have near equal attendance , enough for two sets of D and lines or so..

Surprising to me that a North York Night parent has the "facts"...

Either way , Leaside won the game, and played well considering ...

SO DID THE ATTACK....3-0 with two goals on power plays ...

No-one associated with the Attack is implying that we should be a 10-0-1 team as per your last statement... however there were several games that could have gone either way ...

Our team has been quite competitive in about 75% of their games...

Give the boys credit as they do show up and give it their best every game... They have a great attitude..

I have heard no real complaints about your team being nasty or immature so I have no reason to believe you are. Sorry if it came off that way. It was more an attack to your coach who was obviously the poster saying how you guys wouldve embarrassed leaside without their goalie and how they had 5 more players then you guys, which were both lies. The only people getting hurt are all the "naysayers" that continue to Attack the Attack especially now that they have put some points on the board !!

It is curious to see why the Scarboro Ice Raiders ( which have even a worst record) are not being subjected to this treatment... everyone seems to sympathize with their situation ..

But really, how do you and your kid feel about TT and his coaching? Can he really teach?

By "competitive" do you mean they are equal to the teams they played? Or did their opponents just not play as hard because it was Amesbury? Big difference between the two.

That being said, congrats on the win. Hopefully it is one of a few more (just not against my son's team I hope) and makes the race for the last few playoff spots more entertaining.

Being "competitive" means that you are not getting your butt kicked...there is a goal or two difference....

it appears the opposite happened that some teams came into the games thinking it was only Amesbury.. they were shocked that they weren't leading 4-0 by the end of the first period.. In fact it was either a one goal lead or tie .. this was a wake up call for these teams...

Several losses ( 2 or 3 were one goal games and ended up with empty net goals to make it a 2 goal spread..

In the competitive games, the teams were not holding back...they gave it their best because they were surprised and challenged...

Play-offs ? who cares .. I just want to see some success.. which we are slowing starting to see..

there always has to be a team at the bottom of the division.. don't have problem with this as long as the team gets their share of some success along the way.

I did have some initial reservations about the coach based on previous history ..

My son has been very positive about his ooach believe it or not...

I keep asking him and he continues to be positive about the coach..

In fact he has defended him several times when we have discussed decisions made by the coach that I personally may not have agreed with ...

That's because he's honest and his heart is in the right place. Unlike some of these ruthless, evil, envious, pieces of stool on this site.
Tom has worked wonders for my kid and am positive if you were to ask any other kid he's coached, you would get positive feedback.
Then again, according to them there are no good coaches.

The point I was trying to make was - it is unlikely Amesbury could compete with many of the top teams if both teams brought their "A" game. The good news is, that works to Amesbury's advantage and should help them generate a few more wins when they catch teams napping. Straight-up, talent for talent, player for player - they aren't as good as most teams. I don't think that's a harsh criticism, it's just the way it is.

You have to remember that this team has been playing together now for a month and a half or so...

We have cycled through all of the teams in the West Division... We are now going through them again..

Teams that beat us first round (close games with West Mall and Humber Valley ) have now been a tie and win... Given how close our first games were , are you suggesting that they didn't bring their "A" game for the second game ???


If you feel that Amesbury is at the bottom of the pile , that's fine, however there other teams that also belong in this group as well and therefore we should not be the only one's being singled out especially given how new this team is...


The good news appears that our boys aren't reading this post and are going out and competing to the best of their abilities irrespective of winning or losing...

Kudos to the coach and his staff for the great job they have done thus far with this team.
