The Old Man went through the Tech Seminar for 4 cycles at Hickory this weekend. WKA announced in the seminar that they would rule on flywheels TODAY. They did not say what they were thinking, although they did mention scatter shields AND also billet flywheels. Something WILL be done!
They did mention that they tested 5 flywheels and 4 of the 5 had hairline fractures in them. This is not necessarily due to the fact that we turn these flywheels designed for 3500 RPMs a little fast, but probably MORE due to the fact that they are not always removed properly. If the ruling does not affect stock engines, I still invite you gentlemen that run stock engines to consider what type shape yours could possibly be in and that you run them at almost twice the rate they are designed for.
