I used to color my hair myself until about 3 years ago. I used Garier Nutresse (sp?)...it's the kind Sarah Jessica Parker used to advertise. I like it because it's thick and doesn't run. I suggest if you are going to color it yourself, just do the roots every other time. This saves your hair from becoming like straw, and keeps the color on the ends looking nicer, IMO.
As far as having the color look natural, I have found for my hair that I had to use 2 or 3 different colors...that's why I started to do it professionally. She mixes several different colors and then paints it on with a brush. I also have highlights. It looks pretty good, but I pay for it...it's quite pricey. If money ever got really tight, my salon trips would have to go bye-bye! :(
In answer to your questions...1) No, you cannot go to Sally's and buy salon color. You have to have a beauticians license to do that (in Indiana you do, I assume it is like that elsewhere too). 2) I usually wait 6 to 8 weeks between colorings, but my hair is shoulder length. You may need to touch up every 4 or 5 weeks, but again, just do the roots. |
