A female student from the University of Technology was nearly raped by a young man last week. According to reports of the incident which surfaced yesterday, the girl was in the toilet when the suspects entered and attempted to rape her. The reports said that the student was one of those residing at the Telikom Training college dormitory. The suspect fled when the student screamed for help and was chased by other students who came to her aid.

The reports also said the suspect was bashed up when students caught up with him and was handed over to the securities at the training college for futher action. Meanwhile, the residents at the college chased an armed gang that tried to rob a motorist. THe reidents, armed with bush knifes, axes, sticks and stones answered the call from the would be victim at about 6:30 p.m. last Friday.

The residents believed the gang was responsible for robbing the staff from the college when they were on their way home from the town last Thursday.

The armed gang stopped the bus and took cash and shopping items from the staff, then ordered them out of the bus before taking off with the vehicle.
