This is a biggest mistake digicel has made. PNGean are smart, they will switch from using TXT to just leaving voice mail on the phone. Whats going to happen is Digicel server will be cloggedand overloaded with voice mails.

Bandwidth will be reduced and sooner in months the free voicemail will no longer be free....Good try digicel..I wonder!! are you hiding a deficiency???

Voicemail service for nothing

DIGICEL is continuing its agressive attack on the young mobile market in Papua New Guinea.
Yesterday it said it has now launched a new service ... its “Free Voicemail” service.
The new service will now enable its customers to listen to their voicemail messages for free giving them even more value for their money on the best quality network.
“Free voicemail allows all customers (prepaid and postpaid) to retrieve messages from their voicemail box for free,’’ Digicel’s head of marketing, Peter Watinga, said yesterday.
“Connection to this service is free and there is no charge or restriction as to how many times you can listen to your voicemail.
“Setting up and listening to your personal voicemail is simple.
“All you have to do is dial 555 to set up your personal voicemail message and listen to your messages.
“This is another example of how Digicel is committed to becoming the mobile operator of choice for the people of Papua New Guinea.
“Free voicemail is one of the many fantastic new services we have introduced to the market giving our customers the best value for their mone.”
Free voicemail is a great reason to join the best value mobile network in Papua New Guinea which offers a state-of-the-art network, customer care and the best value call rates in the market.
“Since Digicel launched operations in Papua New Guinea on 20 July, 2007, the company has driven change in the mobile market with the introduction of a host of innovative products and services.

Is it "free" to leave a voice message or just "free" to retrieve?

Competition, going to miss the good hard days. In my time we just watch the politicians hold cellular phones.
