Cabinet split on ‘Kumul’
THE Government is planning to spend K38 million to buy a Fokker 100 aircraft to replace its executive aircraft the Kumul.
How can the Government buy this aircraft when thousands of children and mothers are dying each year from preventable diseases,”
Money spent on the aircraft would deny immunisation for one million children, deny 300,000 children from entering elementary schools and repairs to 600km of roads in the country.
Meanwhile, Cabinet is also split on the justification of spending K300 million for Eda Ranu to build a water and sewerage project for a small part of Port Moresby city. Some ministers are opposed to the spending of such a large sum of money to help only a small minority while the vast majority of rural people still cannot receive vital government services.
This is a very sad case!!

Such a huge amount of money. Something fishy is going on in the upper hierarchy.
Enough is never enough. No wonder the bible says "The Love of money is the root of all evil".
Polticians nowadays no longer have the people's interests at heart, they would rather serve themselves first instead of serving the people(that is why they are called Public servants).

It is incredible, how people can be very self centered. I would imagine increase in government spending, reduction in interest, and increase in salary for some in the coming months as a leadup to the elections.

Increase in salary is definite. So we, the taxpayers have to dig deep into our pockets. This is POLITICS at its best, aka CORRUPTION at a higher level but no one will expose that because they are all in it together.

The way I see it, these ministers are more interested in flying around the country (and overseas?) in a plane and ignoring the silent majority in our beatiful land that are crying for basic services! Really......this just comes to show that these fat cats do NOT have their people at heart when making decisions..
where is PNG going?
