Lets stick to the real issue, if developed countries like UK, US cut down on their desire for timber to build lavish houses, there wont be need for PNG to cut down its forest.

this is beside the issue. I do not think developed countries use timber to build houses. My reason being that you rarely see houses built with timber overseas. They could have used the timber for other things..

Thank you for the correction,

I hope most of them are not sitting on a couch made of bricks. Getting the picture clear, furnitures, drawers, tables and the list goes on.

definitely, they use the timber to build sophisticated furnitures and the prices are higher than those furnitures made of other materials.

I wonder how a couch made of bricks would look like.

Are perfumes also made from some of the rich smelling timbers? I remember hearing from my practical skills teacher in high school that perfumes are made from selected trees. Don't know if it is true.

Yeah, there is a perfume made of eaglewood. It has a very strong smell. When I first had a sniff of the perfume I thought it smelt like a certain body soap used in a hotel in malaysia.
To me it kind of smells funny but my friends think otherwise. It is expensive, though.

Don't know if eucalyptus tree grows in PNG, but I see them sell those kind of soap over the counters. I wonder if people would accept some artificial flavored soap and perfumes.

Yes, I think PNG does have a few species of eucalyptus trees in PNG (you see some just outside of POM and along the Magi Highway). I love the smell of eucalyptus oil and tea tree oil...and yes, sandlewood and eaglewood are used as a base in musk scented fragrances...I know all these from reading COSMO & SHE (not what some would consider genuine ref points

Do you mean Koala as in Koalar bear?

Well, I am not really sure about that but the koala bear eats gum tree leaves. Maybe if there are gum trees in PNG, but then the temperature/climate is another factor so I do not think so.

my own opinion (not based on scientific findings.)
