The recent unrest in UPNG and Unitech are now making the government think about transfering the powers of the universities to the Minister of Higher education by changing the university act. I think this is good, only problem is the revenue generate through university consultacy may tempt the minister.

i disagree and prefer the current act, it removes all political influence which is bad due countless experiences. However what needs to be looked at is the process of appointment of council memebers. The current bunch are either part of a religious network or business friends.
