From data by BSP, PGK against AUD shows from $1AUS = PGK 0.39 in Feb 2005 to a mean flactuation at $1AUS = PGK 0.42. It has been that way for the past 8months, so we can say that it has stabilised abit. But with the impending revised budget, the coffee bug projected to affect the industry, accountablity issues both in the fisheries and forestry industry and the coming elections, there may be a slight volatility.

Finance Minister was THE HONOURABLE Bart Philemon until he got the sack a few months ago. They have now split the ministry making it (I think) finance and treasury.
Finance has been given to Patrick 'Tea-boy blo RH' Putriach and Philemon is with treasury. Finance is however, the purse of the nation and has been given to a person who could most probably the most notorious, corrupted politician in Papua New Guinea! |
