Mini poll: Making connections

Ok, here's a one-question poll for ya:

What are some of your favorite things to do with your partner that, while not particularly intimate on their own, tend to lead to feelings of intimacy? I'm thinking of things like going to a party together, or working on a home improvement project together - things that may make you feel closer without involving a lot of what is traditionally considered intimate.

I'm looking forward to seeing your answers - and maybe getting a few ideas for myself...

Lisa

P.S. The home improvement example I used would never work for me and Neil. We'd end up annoyed with each other and the house would look as bad as when we started, LOL!

This is what does it for us*m

Going out together to have lunch in the middle of a work day. See, when we go out for a planned date in the evening, it doesn't always lead to intimacy. However, whenever we steal a couple of ours in the middle of a work day, it is very exciting to us...

love,

Being with the girls...m

watching what we created is guaranteed to make us start vibing on each other. We have great conversations, too-that always does it for me. Lunchtime has become our time-with Isabel in school and lanie napping we sit outside and have a leisurely talk. And nooners are nice, too. http://www.clarkesworld.com/m2km/nodgrin.gif

Being with the boys...

is a bit of a different vibe for us, LOL! Actually, I shouldn't say that - we had a great time last weekend having water gun fights and walking through the swamp together. It's probably just a matter of finding the right activities. Being with them when they're bored, or wound-up is NOT the right activity

Taking time for a Friday lunch

August 2 2006, 2:42 PM

Doesn't lead to things as we both have to get to back to work, but it is a good way to start the weekend off.

In the evenings, we often play dice or sit out on the patio together. Again, it may or may not lead to things...most of the time, not...but it is a few minutes together just connecting.

We used to go on walks each and every evening. Did that for 12 yrs..up till Bri was about two. We would talk and share and dream...those were special times. Now we still go on walks but with two munchkins along its hard to get that special sharing back. Instead its a lot of munchkin management and care. Help the bike up the hill, look at the snail, don't push, smell the flower, see the figure in the clouds...special kid connection time, but not spouse time anymore.

Cooking dinner together (we have to threaten the kids that if they come in the kitchen, they HAVE to help...and that only keeps them out about 40% of the time). Its a nice time to share about the day, just the two of us. Now it isn't often we cook together (usually a weekend evening) but sometimes it does happen, and its nice.

Home improvement..yeah, right! With two kids around? Oh good golly, spare me. Its enought to keep Connor and Brianna out of the sawdust, away from the wet paint, no you may not help stain, ect. Who has time then to pay attention to a spouse????

Tracey
