A-
I so relate to the sleep stuff. She has been in our bed every night since disclosure. I try hard to get her to fall asleep in her room and 9 times out of 10 I succeed. The problem is the terrible nightmares. She wakes up hysterical (often only an hour or so after going to bed) and I don't have the heart to leave her there. I don't know what to do about this sleep stuff. It is definitely the worst part of all of it. I do the same thing...hand holding, hair brushing, and weaping. Hubby and I haven't snuggled since disclosure, as there is someone between us. I know this is not healthy for anybody, but don't know how to fix it. The therapist makes it sound so easy with sitting in the "mommy chair". I just find that when the nightmares kick in I can't just sit back. She needs to be held and I need to hold her. Dee had lots of good advice, but the little one is so terrified right now that nothing seems to work. I think a lot of her behavior during the day is a result of complete exhaustion. I can't see how we are ever going to break these sleep problems....
How did your husband's interview go? How's the fever? I hope things are going well for your family.
I just got an email from her school that says 48 hours afebrile before returning to school. She is still febrile, so we are looking at Thurs at the earliest...uggg.
Thanks again for all of the insightful, caring support.
