Child Sexual Abuse Parent Support Site

Books I have read

by Angel

I will get back to you on the FAITH post...I have to think about that and want to confir with the hubs on that one...it's too serious to shoot from the hip...but this I can address now.

I have purchased & read:
That which have been HELPFUL and have been OK'd by my therapists (past and present)

When Your Child Has Been Molested: A Parent's Guide To Healing & Recovery
Katheryn Brohl W/ Joyce Case Potter (you'll read this in an hour)

Helping Your Child Recover From Sexual Abuse
Caren Adams
Jennifer Fay (Very quick read as well)

**Trauma Through A Child's Eyes
Awakening The Ordinary Miracle Of Healing
Infancy Through Adolescence
Peter Levine
Maggie Kline

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Sourcebook
A Guide To Healing, Recovery & Growth.
Glenn Schiraldi PhD.

I strongly suggest the first 3 (esp #3, it's a wonderful, big fat book...) the last book was realy for me..I have been abused as a child, a teen and in an abusive relationship....so I used this to work thru some things and identify with my child's PTSD.
The first 2 books are probably things you already know...but I understand the concept of having tangible things...a book in the hand, on the shelf, reference....I get it.
I think I ordered the first 2 on Amazon, and foound #3 & #4 @ Barnes & Noble.

Hardly the kind of book you want to snuggle up on the couch with...but I hope this helps.
Much like you...I have the insatiable urge to devour books. Just usually Art history, cookbooks or ones set in the Dark Ages or during the Roman Empire.
