The attitude it conveys

When I read this sentence at the top of your site:

"This site is PNG's first premier site that brings together the vast wealth of knowledged and experience possessed by Papua New Guineas all over the world and strategically optimised to give "inter-linked" dynamic dimensions to seemly unrelated issues."

I was immediately turned off from contributing here. Not only is it bad English but egotistical and pretentious. I was hoping this place would be normal and relaxed not snobby. Only snobs enjoy contributing to boards that smell like they're snobby.

You can erase this posting instead of displaying after you have read it, others don't have to know what I think. Just sharing it with you moderators.

Thank you anonymous, criticism taken kindly and appreciatively.

We will surely look at the words that you mentioned, and if necessary redraft accordingly. Thank you indeed for taking the time to put down your strong opinions regarding the paragraph.

It is clear that you have a wealth of ideas and proliferation of valuable knowledge that you are enthusiastically waiting to contribute to various discussion topics, for which I am pleased to facilitate serious discussions. However, I would like to kindly inform you that other PNG sites are available and would suit your more relaxed and amusing attitude toward exceptionally serious issues.

With that said, I urge you to refrain from calling names, as you are fully aware that it serves no rationale and purpose other than a display of childish absurdity.

With regards,
kolwan

Hmmmm..the kind of attitude your statement conveys, is a kind that tells me you have an attitude problem, a big one for that matter. It is people with that kind of attitude that stand in the way of progress. If you do not want to contribute, that is entirely up to you, no one needs to know about it. I do not like your choice of words either. Be the man you are and stop hiding under the name anonymous.

You can think and say what you want to but as the saying goes, "WHEN YOU ARE OPPOSED, KNOW THAT YOU ARE GOING THE RIGHT WAY" so, thank you for making us realise that we are going the right way.

Anon,
Is that the best you can say about this site? Can't you at least appreciate what the owner and his team of moderators have done so far?
At least he has a dream about making this country of ours better with the wide scope of topics discussed here.

People that speak your language are self-centred. They are mean, selfish, insensitive and manipulative and are quick to criticise. If you want to criticise, fine, do it constructively, you don't have to be so stale about it.

You want to live a good life, be appreciative and see the good in things around you. Continue in that trend and you will be miserable because the way you speak will tell your listeners alot about you.

Think about it.

Seriously, i was amazed at what you have put out here. Mate, this is the real stuff and i have always seen you working hard for it. Go for it Jnr.
I am right behind you.
Critics are a second word for a few PNGs and the first person who signed is one of them.
Like i said, they make you stronger; not weaker.

I've been wondering where you were. This says it all..
Jnr, I'll catch you when i can, eh?

Snr

Ok I dont know about you but the only thing I can SMELL when I am here on this site is my own perfume, but what I can READ is informative and often entertaining depending on who is posting!! Ralf is always good for a laugh but also a very intelligent contributer to this site. If you have a problem with the front page of this site perhaps you are more suited to pngscape, you certainly have to tredge through a lot of stink to get one gem of inspiration over there, you see an elite would have emailed the owner of the site or at least articulated his opinion without sounding like someone who is jealous of the elite that can and do contribute to this site. As for snobs, far from it in fact we ( the moderators and owners ) and I am sure I speak for other moderators on this site are more like a family and we take care of each other and of this site, thats why VORTEX is VORTEX and working so well and others are more like a war zone than a family !!!!!

Self-advertising

Well anon,
you obviously have a lot to learn about advertising.

One can always claim that one has the best site in the world, or is the best Plumber, or whatever. This is the normal "puffery" allowed in advertising. Such claims do not have to be substantiated. What you are not entitled to do, is say. "We are better than XXX site." That is being defamatory.

As a person with no axe to grind, so as to speak, for either site, Vortex or Scape, I find this site is better for serious discussions. I admire the work 7mile does on scape, but with so many Trolls posting, her work is certainly cut out for her. One has only to read some of the conflicting information on some of the fora on Scape, to assume that either one of both parties are lying. I, personally, tend to regard it as the "Disinformation Forum". That is not to say, that I do not get a deal of amusement from posting there.

I do find the absense of abuse here refreshing. The internet seems to be a refuge for the deranged, who get their gratification by abusing all and sundry. In fact, do a search for "Trolls". You will find an interesting Psychological profile on them. Strange animals --- humans.

Life was meant to be funny......Ralph.

Don't you think that 7mile catalyzes a lot of what occurs? I'm not saying that every time she disappears the troubles disappear. however I've noticed that she sometimes moderates in a heavy handed way and following that there is quite a reaction on the board, which manifests itself in different ways. One problem begats another problem so to speak.

I agree there are many trolls over there but sometimes that too is due to nothing more than popularity. A small fraction of the internet crowd always turns out to be trolls!
