My GG Grandmother Johanna Louise Kosbab was born Dec 4, 1866 in Reiz Kr. Stolpe Pommern in NE Germany near the sea. Her father was Karl Kosbab and her mother Ernestine Jagenow.
She came to the province of Ontario in Canada when she was in her early teens and worked for a family named Roney as an "au pair" girl. Her brother also left Pommern at this time, but we believe he went to New York.
In 1888 in the small town of Germanicus/Golden Lake Ontario, she married Carl Friedrich Furchtegotte Berger (born Aug 27, 1861 in Friedburg, GR Neumark Prussia (SW of Berlin).
She later came to Toronto, which is where our family now lives, and provided the family with a good solid Lutheran faith.
