is certainly what we should aim for. It's actually easier than many think. Do we SEEK the same things? Do we DESIRE the same things? Do we worship the TRUE God? Do we take Jesus to our hearts as our Messiah, High Priest and King?
If the answer is yes, then we have a HUGE amount of common ground to bind us together.
If we have faith, trust in God, wish to follow Jesus, then the other points that we cant quite agree upon should not make us enemies.
What I have found over my 50 years on this planet is that people can tend to make religion a one-up-man-ship game. Personal opinion, personal pride, arrogance, self righteousness..... these all cause the divisions we see between denominations, and also WITHIN each denomination itself.
Our individual salvation is dependant upon Gods grace, not how much we know, or how many arguments we can win (or think we win).
Even if we cant agree on all doctrine, such as the trinity, then we still all depend on Gods grace. Not one of us could stand before Jesus and say we got it all right, that we were perfect.
Our perfection comes by Jesus, not by ourselves, it is down to that grace of God, in Jesus, that will make us justified and acceptable to him.
All we can do is discuss these issues, to try our best to be sure we believe correctly. However, we MUST also actually WALK in righteousness, which means being gentle, kind and loving towards all.
This is pleasing to God, He doesn't really need all the help many try to give Him with expounding the word, He wants people to WALK with Him.
Simple really, if we stop and think about it.
Love in Jesus, Julian
