Firefox is an excellent web browser, and much safer from viruses, trojans, bots, spyware, and other malware, than Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer didn't even have tabbed browsing until a year or so ago, whereas Firefox has had it for at least 10 years now; that's how "advanced" Internet Explorer is.

My own favorite is the Opera web browser. It also has tabbed browsing and all the other bells and whistles, but is a smaller and less complex program... and runs slightly faster than Firefox. But either is preferable to IE.
