Snowmobiler dies after falling into creek

SNOQUALMIE SUMMIT – A 32-year-old Maple Valley man died after plunging into a creek while riding his snowmobile.

The accident happened Friday afternoon in the Gold Creek area, east of Snoqualmie Pass.

Andrew Hawken apparently was riding with family and friends. When he did not catch up, some returned to find he had gone off the snow bank and fallen 25 feet into the creek onto rocks.

Hawken suffered suffering critical injuries and never regained consciousness.

Rescuers performed CPR at the scene, but he died at the scene of his injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office.
