Hi Everyone -

I just purchased a couple of new hiking books, which are very good. The first is "Backpacking in Michigan" by Jim DuFresne. I can't recommend this one highly enough. There are short trips, long trips, whatever you desire. Jim DuFresne is an excellent author. His other books include one on the foot trails and waterways of Isle Royale, and a hiking guide to Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park.

The second book is Hiking Michigan and is a brand new second edition of the earlier book by the same name, by Roger E. Storm and Susan M. Wedzel. This, too, is an excellent book, especially for families, as the book rates the trails in terms of difficulty. There are 146 hikes in this book, mainly day hikes, so it is a great book for getting out for a day.

I found both of these at the local Borders store and I've seen them at REI and Barnes and Noble, too.

Enjoy!

Kathy
