What a simply perfect afternoon for a hike and the animal gathering at the Pontiac Lake Horseman's Campground. I want to Thank all the PLHA members who made this happen for Hiking Michigan. We had a very nice hike to to top of the first Overlook at the Park. The group stayed together for the hike up, but we all ended up splitting up into various size groups for the hike down. Some people took the same route back to the Campground and some of us took a much longer way back. The trails at Pontiac Lake are not always the easiest to navigate directions wise, so some of the alternative routes back where hilly and long. All survived though and enjoyed Kyler's Corral of Ponies and the Cart rides for the kids. We had a great turnout including the Oakland Press writer who joined in to explore the trails with us.
We finished our hike and Kyler's corral with quite the feast around a nice Campfire that was built by the PLHA and was waiting for the hikers upon their return. There was just plain a ton of food on hand. Even plenty of selections for our growing Vegetarian friends. We will be returning to Pontiac Lake Rec. Arae as part of our FALL COLORS TOUR of hikes. We will be hiking the "Ridgetop" trail and enjoying some of the best vistas and colors in Oakland county.
