Spot Shot will remove just about anything, but it comes back. The best carpet cleaner I've found, short of renting a machine, is Resolve. I have had it take up spots that I thought were there for good. Note: The carpet next to my kitchen is terrible, too. It's probably spilled food. But, if it's a pet stain, don't plan on getting it up. Not that I haven't tried!
