I never thought this would happen -- ever!! My mammo was clear at the end of February. I felt a lump mid-May and thought it might go away. I forced my doc to do an ultrasound on 6/16 and was referred to a surgeon. The biopsy was last thursday evening and has come back positive for the "garden variety", most common type of breast cancer. I think it is confined to the breast and hasn't gone to the lymph nodes. I will start chemo in the next 1-2 weeks to shrink the tumor, then have surgery to remove it, and then radiation. Depending on whether it has estrogen receptors will determine whether I need to take Tamoxifen for five years after radiation.
It's been a rough week -- for me AND my family. My 14 yo DD is doing better - she's known for about a week. We just told DS (age 8 in a few weeks) last night and he's having trouble with it. He'll be OK.
I had my hair cut today....I've been meaning to do it anyway -- just not this short. It'll grow back eventually though.
I know this is all going to be OK -- it's gonna suck for a while -- but it'll be OK!!
Thanks for your support everyone!!
