I typically don't do resolutions, but the start of the new year is a great time to reflect on the past and look toward the future. As I reflect on last year, I can see the blessings and the places that brought conflict to my soul instead of peace. With that in mind, these are the changes I am instituting for my life.
"Count your blessings, name them one by one..." I am searching each day, each trial, each moment for the blessing that lies therein. Sometimes the blessings are just right there in your face, like an unexpected Christmas bonus and an unexpected cash gift that gave us the funds to do the brand new game system--first time we've ever owned the current model while it was "hot"! But sometimes it's a big harder...today I am rejoicing that my abs are going to be quite trim in no time because of all the coughing I am doing. My gut HURTS--but that means that muscles are working that were'nt working before, so.... it's a little thing, but it's still a blessing, and I'd rather focus on that than on the negative side of being sick.
I feel SO much better when I eat gluten free and when I am not eating sugar and starches all the time. So I am adopting a new WOL (way of life). I am not dieting. Diets don't work. I am going to stay faithful to the body that has been given me to wear until I join my Savior in heaven. I will eat only foods that are free of gluten, and I will all-but-eliminate refined and artificial foods.
Daily aerobic exercise is a great way to keep brain chemistry healthy and get the body in shape, and is the best possible way to combat fibromyalgia. (the gluten and sugar contribute to that significantly, too) So, I will do SOME form of exercise every day, focusing on whole body stuff including aerobic exercise daily. Even if all I do is sit-ups before bed, I will exercise daily.
I will spend 15 minutes cleaning my throw-it-in-there closet and my pantry/storage area of the basement daily. When these areas are completely cleaned and organized, I'll focus that same amount of time improving other areas.
I will get us back on the Dave Ramsey plan for finances, starting today. (yesterday was payday, so that makes it easy to start today!)
I will keep my house CLEAN and TIDY every. single. day!!!!!!
I will read my Bible every day.
These are thoughts and plans that I have had for quite some time, nothing rash. I'm looking forward to some really great changes in '11!!
