I have two of those shoe holders that are cloth, reinforced with cardboard (I think), and have several slots for shoes. They hang from two hangers at the top. My shoes go in the corner. They also have hanging sweater shelves like that. I'd do that. Or put a small chest in that spot, depending on how big it is.
