In my case it really wasn't that hard to keep it straight. I already knew everything outside (yard things, everything I had stored in my garage, etc) I was going to be brooming. My mom and I set it up outside and we both carried those things w/pockets in front so we could take money and make change. Anything I wasn't selling went in the house. So everything outside was fair game.
