But he is truly a slumlord. The house had a gas floor furnace (non-working) when they moved in in April. He promised to fix it, as well as the broken windows, broken and missing stair rails, and roof leak. He did nothing. One room at the back of the house is lower than the rest by about 5 feet. There is a landing when first entering the room, and steps that are off to the side. No rails at all and the light switch is at the bottom of the stairs.
No light fixtures in the upstairs bathrooms. In one, the girls clamped a desk lamp onto the towel bar and ran an extension cord into the next bedroom.
Some of the light switches didn't work at all, and the house had been changed into apartments, and then back into one house, and probably could have been condemned if anyone called. Supposedly the guy is wealthy and friends with people in city government. This was one of 5 he owned on the block, and all looked run down.
He rents to low income, low education people and probably for the most part they are slow pay or non pay renters and he has to be like that. And dd fits into that class of people I'm afraid. Plus, she is low IQ too. I'm not defending dd. I doubt we know the whole story even now. But in the past he has told them one thing and done another, so I don't trust him to keep his word unless it's written.
