We had an infestation of camel crickets

and black crickets at our other house. It only had a crawl space under it but the crickets loved it for some reason. The worst thing with the black ones was they would start singing at night and we could not find them. They would shut up every time you got near and it would seem they would throw their voice. There were many nights at 2:00 AM I was frantically swatting around the fireplace trying to shut the stupid cricket up. One time I turned around to see my six-month-old with black legs sticking out her mouth as she chomped. I managed to get it out in time. But those camel crickets were creepy. It was not literally crawling with them but they would come and go and we never knew what drew them.
