Maybe a good deal

Response to Steals and deals

maybe a mistake...

I bought a very solid, heavy Kenmore sewing machine with all the pieces (including a box of pattern cams) and manuals (In English and French...) for the kids to use instead of my Janome. I paid about $40 for it. I thought I was buying it and an X-box, but DS had already paid for the X Box... But it was a fundraiser for cadets so what the heck!

I asked what the deal was with the sewing machine and the teen girl told me that it was her mom's friend that donated it and it had been her mother's. The girl's mother had sewn with it and it was a 'bit tight.' I asked if anyone had adjusted the tension and they all stared at me with open mouths as if they were thinking "adjust... it..." It is a lot like the sewing machine that I learned to sew on so I think with the manual open beside me it shouldn't be too much of a problem to set the tension. I guess that will have to go under the new skills thread.

DS got an X-box for $25 including memory (which was a concern because there wasn't supposed to be memory in it) and a new game worth $65. All the kids at the table were very excited and I thought one was going to cry because the only reason he didn't fight us for it was that he thought there was no memory and didn't want to pay $10 to get it. I guess DS opened it up and looked inside after it was paid for. It caused quite a stir, anyway!
