Your post made me smile, I can tell you are becoming the awesome ICU nurse you have dreamed about being.
I have taken a new position, as Clinical Educator on the unit I've worked for years. It's been a gyn/antepartum unit for most of the past 15 years, but in the last 2-3 years it's become a unit that is the catch all for about EVERYTHING possible. It's not unusual to have a team of completely different diagnosis' and to be expected to know everything there is to know about each diagnosis. I am learning a LOT about how to use my resources, and how to use them quickly!
I'm also finally enrolled to take some classes at the university again - better late than never!
