Read an article this AM. The cold snap in early April in the NC mountains took out 30-50% of the apple crop. I'm guessing prices will be higher this fall. Usual price is around $9-10 for a peck. some vendors will also sell loose by the pound, usually 99 cents.
I don't know if NC apples make it to other states or not, so this might not affect you. However, I buy lots of them at the farmers market in the fall, so it'll hit me.
I don't want to give them up, so I guess I should start a little side fund in preparation, LOL!
