Let me first say that while I am clinically depressed, it is well controlled by medication just now. And although I do have low periods, I am just coming out of one.
The reason is that I have taken steps to take control of my life. All of the undone things have weighed heavily on me, and I'm finally getting a handle on them.
At home, I have hired housekeeping help one day a week for the month of June. During this time, I've been working ahead of her--so she can actually clean--and I've been cleaning and organizing storage and work areas. Although there is still MUCH to be done, enough has been accomplished that I can see there is a light at the end of the tunnel...and it isn't a fully-loaded freight train coming straight at me.
At the cabin, DD and I came up here Wednesday night. Didn't do much yesterday because the painters were here and I needed to stay out of their way. Today, I've sanded and stained woodwork (hopefully, the last of it, or close to it) and spray-primed some window grids that I'm repurposing as trellises. I also came here with the intention of finding someone to put in a yard. I think I have! He comes highly recommended, knows what he is doing, and is coming tomorrow and Sunday to rake it out. If he does as good a job as I expect, I'll have him seed it, too. All for $9 hour!
Anyway, I'm beginning to feel that life isn't quite as overwhelming as I thought it was two weeks ago. I'm on the upswing. It's a beautiful day today and we've seen lots of deer--one of the 4 that hangs around here is growing antlers! (Just a spike). This morning, we went to the next town, which is the seat of a small county, and I renewed my driver's license in 5 minutes instead of an hour and a half. And this is what I saw on the way: half a dozen llamas grazing with a huge flock of Canada geese. Now picture the long necks and you will see what made me smile! (Two weeks ago, I wouldn't have noticed).
PS I love the colors on my house! It is taupe trimmed with cream and forest green. They are not quite done with the trim, but I'll take a picture when they are, and post it. I am not good at choosing colors from color chips, so I'm especially happy that they look so good together.
