Dh is looking for a used vehicle. He will be putting at least 300 miles a week on a car, so it needs to get decent gas mileage 24-30 (his truck gets about 12 mpg), and it needs to be reliable and have some get up and go/power.
Dd is driving a lemon of a Lumina - seriously, this week we opted to put a used tire on it vs. buying a new tire, we're all in agreement that we think the money is better spent on a newer car than sunk into tires. It has some major issues, and we've spent $2,400 over the last 2 years trouble shooting issues and still have the same inconsistent problems. I don't want my daughter or granddaughter away from home in that unreliable vehicle! (When they are going to be more than 30 miles from us, they take my car, it IS that bad). ...... anyway, she is looking for a car too. Requirements - reliablity, decent gas mileage, 4 doors, she'll be driving fewer miles, less than 10,000 miles/year, but they'll mostly be in town miles.
We aren't planning to by new for either of them, but are leaning toward something 2-7 years old for both cars. (although dh is open to something older if it's in good shape, as he realizes that after driving it for a couple years it's not going to have much value to anyone but us.) Any suggestions?
