Have any of you tried Target's Up & Up ultra concentrated laundry powder? Consumer Reports rated it #2 with a 61 rating, only one point below the top-rated Wisk Deep Clean. Plus, it is only .10 per load, vs. .17 for Wisk, and was thus named a Best Buy.
I'm currently using whatever Tide I can get on sale and with a coupon, usually for around $4 a bottle. But Up & Up would be even cheaper, and not all of the Tides rate as highly as Tide Plus Bleach Alternative. It was tied with Up & Up at 61 but costs .18 per load (I don't pay that much).
I wash in cold water about 98% of the time.
The only other laundry products I am currently using are chlorine bleach (as needed), Costco dryer sheets (cut in 1/3) and Latin American laundry soap bars as a pre-treater. It beats the heck out of Shout, Zout, etc. I have a bar of Zote, which I know you can buy in the U.S. in areas where a lot of Latinos live, and a bar of Rinso Blue that I bought in Costa Rica. (I bring home strange souvenirs, LOL). Both work really well as a pre-treater, especially on grease (even set in). Just rub it in and scrub a bit and wash as usual. If you can't buy a Mexican product, like Zote, try Fels Naphtha, or even homemade lye soap. Restaurants made lye soap for years to use up the grease and get the cooks' uniforms clean.
I have washed, line-dried and folded 7 loads of laundry since yesterday. I'm caught up!
