Can you just double bag the litter and put it in your dumpster/trash can? We always used empty milk cartons to put used litter in, but we just had a normal-sized box. Although we miss our late cat, I do admit that I don't miss a litter box or having cat hair in the house. Our outdoor cat (inherited from neighbors who moved) isn't interested in coming inside.
