Last year, two small school districts in eastern Washington gave up processed foods and went back to cooking school lunches from scratch. Now four more school districts are joining the program. The general consensus was that it wouldn't be cost-effective and the kids wouldn't eat the food, but the first two districts proved this wrong. Back in the day when I was in grade school (1950s) EVERYTHING was cooked from scratch, even the breads (except for white bread on grilled cheese sandwich day). I LOVED wiener wraps!!
