My daughter started kindergarten late last week. Although I surprised myself and didn't cry on her first day, I do feel a bit wistful--especially when I start to think that she'll now be spending more of her awake hours with teachers and friends than she does with me. She is a very young five, but she is ready and is having a blast and goes off so excited in the mornings.
My son is in preschool for a few hours each day, so I now have 2 quiet hours by myself during the day. My daughter was quite concerned about me and asked what I would do.
I told her that I had a full day of laundry planned for her first day. Heck, I've even had the iron out twice since school began (and that is usually a rarity for me)! Maybe I can get all of the cupboards, closets, and dressers organized and tackle the garage.
