Buy too-big clothing and re-use the fabric. I recently bought a pair of PJ pants for 25 cents that were probably for a boy around age 10-12. They might have fit my youngest daughter (age 21) but I doubt she'd have loved the airplane and tank motif. I've cut them apart and have enough fabric to make a pair of long PJ pants and a pair of shorts for my grandson.
