All the pictures clearly show the exceptionally wide panels that extend
beyond the sides of the seat under the cantle. The owners of this saddle
spent over a year looking at saddles before having this made, and didn't
see a single item that even came close to this shape.

Something else unusual, but that wasn't photographed is that the
saddle doesn't have traditional stirrup bars. Instead it has squared
steel "hooks" that are set a little further back than bars can reach.
This is something that is quite common in Portugal, but not in the UK.

Also since the photos were taken the panels have been changed for serge
(wool) rather than leather. These panels are rarely seen in the UK, but
they do exist.

The maker's logo rivetted onto the head is a stylised "HS" (standing for
Humphries and Swain). The logo is in gold on a cream background.

In total 10 - 12 saddles and probably a similar number of bridles were
stolen. All the other saddles are standard makes and models.
