Where's nice to ride?

I moved to the new forest last summer from Berkshire, and dont know the forest at all; we got horses late last year and have so far been riding near to home, mainly around Blackfield and Mopley Common.
Would love any suggestions as to where would be nice to go and ride, we'll probably get lost not knowing the area, but hey! We have a trailer so it can be anywhere on the Forest. Thanks everyone in anticipation!

I dont live that far from you Nikki, my boys are kept in Beaulieu!

How far afield have you ridden so far as you can go for miles around this area without having to box out, or is it purely the common you have ridden on!

How fit is your horse, do you know anybody else who rides around your area as they would know the routes onto other places.

It is always a bit daunting setting off on your own if you dont know the area, I always used to think 'that track looks nice, but i have no idea where it goes, so I'll stiick to this big gravel one', lol!!

There are loads of places you could ride to but that would depend if your horse was up for it or not, you could just box to Kings Hat, near ipley cross roads and ride Dibden Enclosure, Ipley, Culverley, Beaulieu Road or Longdown from there as there are lots of nice tracks, some lvoely long ones to gallop along and some nice greens

Thanks; my boys not too fit at present; he spent a month in Liphook hospital at christmas after cutting his hind leg and severing the tendon sheath etc etc, so only came back into work mid March. We're doing about a max of 1.5 hours out at present; it takes me 20 mins to hack from home onto the Forest @ Blackfield so consequently dont get to ride very far - furthest we've been is to the pub at Hilltop lol! Hence the reason if we can box somewhere it then gives us more riding time! Besides it'd be nice to get to see lots more of the forest

You could always box to hilltop, unload, ride to the pub, have a drinka nd some food, get back on and ride back to the box again, lol!!
You could box to beaulieu road, that car park isnt too bad, or to marchwood inclosure, or the car park at dibden enclosure, then you will get to ride quite local and get to know your local riding area for when your horse is fit to go farther!
Glad your horse is on the mend now, poor thing, sounds nasty
If you would like, if you box to somewehre near me, i could always meet up with you on my horse and show you around a bit.

That would be nice, thanks. It'd be great to meet some new friends down here, especially those who ride! I'll get in touch with you when I know my husband will babysit. I dont know about you but I can ride in the week also, best days are Weds & Fridays
