Simplicity
by OwlTo make it private, would take a whole 'nother set up entirely. (so I have perceieved and attempted to change.)
People from other schools do post, like Coach C. from OakCrest or Coach Asamoto from Diegueno.
And requiring people to sign up, like they do at phpBB based Websites help slow down traffic ALOT for like more serious discussions where you are trying to build foundation. But if we all had to have names, no person would be anonymous and would end up tipping over the entire structure.
So unless the coaches would like to change the forum, and restrict it to a select few people, I do not think anything will change.
I think anyone who posts something rude, should be ignored.
And anyone who posts something distastefully "funny" should also be ignored.
This means even responding with "Hey thats lame" Dont throw wood into the fire.
