Sad news

by Don Williams

I read this on Valhalla wrestling forum just now

"This morning coach Takahashi has passed away due to his ongoing battle with his heart problems. The family just wanted me to post so the wrestling community could be made aware. RIP Coach T"

He didicated his life as an educator and mentor. A sad time for the section as a whole. Coach Takahashi will be missed but not forgotten.

LCC Winter Sports Program Pictures-Thursday, 1-1-09

by

LCC Wrestlers and Coaches,
Wrestling will have their pictures taken on Thursday, 1-1-09 at 3pm for the LCC Winter Sports Program. This is for all wrestlers; Frosh/JV and Varsity.

Varsity Wrestlers, please bring your Varsity Jackets to practice for the picture (then we can decide on wearing singlets or jackets).

There will be individual pictures for the Seniors and Coaches.

Seniors need to have their senior profile completed and a wrestling picture selected.

Hope everyone can make it to practice that day so they can have their picture in the Winter Sports Program. This program will feature all the LCC Winter Sports.

Addition to the coaching staff!

by Don Williams

Ryan Williams will be added to the LCC coaching staff in the coming days. Williams is a recent graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and brings stellar credentials to the LCC program. The LCC alumni and former Division I college wrestler is a multiple time state freestyle champion, a cadet national AAU freestyle champion, a two time high school all-American, a high school state champion, a three time high school state placer, as well as holding the record for the most high school wins in the San Diego Section history with 192. We are fortunate that Williams has chosen to give back to the LCC wrestling community. We welcome him aboard!

TJ,

Is this the same I-pod you left behind at practice and meets a couple times in 7th grade? Sorry to say but someone was probably watching you put it away and did a sticky finger freebie. Hope you got some money for Christmas and can replace it.

I'm glad to see you're still destroying the competition at your level. Good practice for when you are full-time varsity.

Re: again?!?

I don't think iPods were even out 6 years ago. Even if he did have one then, he probably would have lost it since then.

Which TJ?

by Carlson

It's TJ Grisafe I was talking about. He is in 9th grade and left behind his shoes, backpack, i-pod, etc in 7th grade. I don't remember him losing any matches until the state tourneys.

TJ Webb is at ASU now and he almost bit his tongue off in practice in 7th grade but never lost anything in middle school that I can remember. Well, maybe a few matches in 7th grade and one against SFC in 8th but he got that kid back at league finals.

TJ Webb

by Carlson

I think it was Cimicata? He's the only one I remember TJ being worried about. All my old records are in storage so I'm not sure. They were doing Cement Jobs (cow catchers/steer wrestlers) on us all day. Darren Cooley was their coach that year.

Oh yeah, I remember those days. Cimicata was a pile though.

Re: Reno 2nd Day

Cox loses a close match to a New Jersey wrestler and is out.

The whole team wrestled against some very tough competition around the country and had a good showing.

Good job Mavs!
