Banquet April 2nd

by Team Mom

Message from Mrs Arguelles...
The original e-mail was sent a few weeks ago with the cost etc....

Hello Wrestling Families,

The Frosh/Soph State Tournament is on March 21st and 22nd. The boys
will be leaving for Fresno on Friday, March 20th, to weigh in that
evening. Because this is the day after the banquet, many of the
wrestlers will not be able to enjoy the buffet. After all, what is
an "All You Can Eat Buffet" if you can't eat all you want. And with
the Freshman and Sophmores having to make weight the following day,
we felt the need to move the banquet until after the State Tournament.

So, the new date for the Wrestling Banquet and Awards Ceremony will
be Thursday, April 2nd. If you haven't already done so, please send
me your confirmation and money by Wednesday, March 25th. We hope to
see you all there.

Thanks,
Jamie Arguelles

San Diego Section State next year

by qustion

Since ALL of San Diego Section didn't do well at State this year how is that going to affect how many placers will qualify to make it next year to state? I remember when we were able to send 4, then it dropped down to 3 based upon how the San Diego Section as a whole preformed. Could we possibly maybe only sending 2 next time? Isn't there some sections that do so poorly they only get to send 1? Can someone explain how the criteria for State qualifiers work.

Re: Sections

It depends on how that section does at state. San Diego has done overall bad the past four years, which is why they changed our amount of qualifiers from 4 per weight class, to 3.

Start thinking about summer

by Mike Jones Who

Yes this is a tournament not a camp, verifiable to Mr Staley of AAU. We have a confirmed date of June 18-21st

Information On 2009 AAU Summer Match High School Wrestling Tournament

Welcome to Summer Match, the nation's leading tournament source for live wrestling matches! Unlike most summer camps, Summer Match does not offer technique sessions. Coaches are continuing to see that retention rates at technique camps are very low, and team tournaments are more beneficial to their athletes! Summer Match Tournaments are built on the philosophy of guaranteeing each athlete an abundance of quality matches. Depending on the tournament, each wrestler gets between 10 to 12 duals, as well as a 32 man bracket tournament. Summer Match continues to attract some of the nation's most prolific teams. See our Teams Section for a list of former teams that have competed in our events, and our Past Events section for a list of past wrestlers.
Tournament Costs Reno Nevada.
The great thing about summer match is that it makes wrestling in the summer affordable by charging by the team instead of charging the individual. It also allows the individual to come on their own at a fair price.
Dates Confirmed: June 18-21st
Type- Dual and bracket tournament
Location - Reno, Nevada (Spanish Springs High School)
Format- 10-12 Duals and a 24/32 man bracket tournament
Matches- 2-1-1
Style- Folkstyle
Food & Lodging- Your Teams responsibility (See Hotel List)
Cost- $500 a team, Make check Payable to Kevin Carter, Due April 1st. $100 late charge
Send Check to: Kevin Carter 2109 Majestic Dr, Little Elm TX 75034

General Information
Welcome to the 5th annual Summer Match Tournament. This tournament is designed to get each team as many matches as possible. Each team will get 10-12 duals and a 24/32 man bracket tournament. 6 duals on Friday and 5 on Saturday. Here is how the event will work. Each team must fill out there waiver forms. No kid will be able to compete unless the release is signed. The forms must be brought to weigh ins. Each team must pay $500 entry fee by April 1st. Make Check Payable Kevin Carter. Each team may bring 15 wrestlers; No more than 15 wrestlers a team, no exceptions. We will stick extras on unfilled teams. All extras will be put into the tournament. There is dual time: 2-1-1. Tournament time is 1-1-1. We finished our tournament by 10:30am on Sunday. This is not a National Federation Tournament and the time is adjusted, be prepared to wrestle with limited rest. Your rest time is from dual to dual. During the tournament your rest period is the time between your match and whenever you are called next, (1-1-1) goes quick, be ready. Weigh ins will be Thursday night at 6pm. There will be one SUPERVISED WEIGH IN for the entire event. No second weigh in for the tournament. You can schedule a Friday Weigh in with the tournament director prior to the event. Modified summer weights will be used: 105,115,125,135,145,155,170,190 ,215,HVT. Each team must provide one (1) adult that will help ref and time dual Matches. One ref will keep time, while the other ref will officiate. DO NOT COME TO THE TOURNAMENT WITHOUT AN OFFICIAL TO REPRESENT YOU. YOU WILL BE CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL $250 if we have to provide you with one, no exceptions.
