Hello everyone!
Geography Club
Some of you already know but for those of you who don't we will be starting up a Geography Club. It will occur on the 2nd Thursday of every month from 10-1 pm. (We had a really great Geography class going but due to extenuating circumstances this class has been indefinitely postponed-- this is a great way for fill that gap-- the gaping hole, the chasm-- we'll miss you Chris n Trish!) We will be meeting at the Carden's 306 Westwood Dr. off of Leverette.
There are a few of you that are familiar with the general format of Geography Club we will be changing * a few things but keeping alot -- if it works why fix it!
* Each family will be assigned a country the research needs to include but not be limited to;
Country Flag (re-create to be hung on the wall no bigger than 14x20ish)
language
capitol
neighbors
traditions
national crop/ industry
some history i.e....
saints, explorers, kings etc...
current events
All presentations are to be given by the children and should not take longer than 15 minutes per country.
You have probably noticed that this is timed over lunch! BECAUSE...
Each family is to make and bring a dish (no limit to the food -- just make sure that there is enough for everyone to sample) from their country. We will have lunch at 12 and be heading home by 1 so that everyone can get to piano or sports that are scheduled that day. We did this before and the kids and moms loved it!
This is a family event and open to all ages. I do need to know if you plan on participating so that I can assign you a country as soon as possible.
